5 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

So...Happy Halloween!  Maybe you've waited till the last minute to put something together, or maybe you hadn't planned on dressing up..until now.  No worries though, Pinterest and various other internet outlets are full of ideas, and I've put together my 5 favorite last-minute/easy costumes for couples or the single guy/gal!

5. Shamy! (Sheldon & Amy from The Big Bang Theory)

Jason and I are going as Shamy and I couldn't be more excited!  We love Big Bang and I can't wait to show y'all how our outfits turn out.  Remember to have fun and stay safe!  And that the best costumes usually aren't "sexy." :)

What is everyone else going to be?! Always looking for ideas for next year! Happy Halloween y'all!

How to Transition Pastels into Your Fall Wardrobe

A dilemma we all face come cold weather is what to keep in the front of our closet and what to put away till Spring.  Pastels tend to be seen as "warm weather only" colors, but I beg to differ.  Mint is my favorite "real color," and I just couldn't bear putting it away; I had to find a way to incorporate it into my wardrobe year-round!  So I did.  Here are some tips on how to keep your favorite "summer" pastels in your cold-weather wardrobe!

1.  Make sure the material of your "pastel" is appropriate for cold weather.  Jeans, knits, sweaters, etc.  I would tend to leave the flowey, light pieces till spring, however, there are always exceptions.

2. Pair your pastel with cool weather, rich textures like chunky sweaters, cords, blanket scarves, thick knits, cardigans, etc.

3. Use "fall patterns" like leopard, plaids, fair isle, and richer colors Iike jewel tones, or warm neutrals like dark grey, cognac, or winter white.

I paired my favorite mint skinnies with a warm, fair isle sweater and leopard smoking slippers, I could personally wear this all fall!  I also wore them last winter for this post where I paired them with a cable knit and plaid coat! :)

Pumpkin Patchin'

This weekend we finally made it to the pumpkin patch!  Super fun time, especially with friends!  The farm had so much stuff (especially for kids) to do, and fresh veggies and baked goodies, and of course, huge pumpkin and sunflower patches!

We got to take a wagon ride out to the patches to pick the pumpkins and sunflowers (which were free), and it's definitely more fun running through the patch searching for the perfect pumpkins.  I so could have come home with a carload but we ended up with 3 carving and 3 tiny pumpkins! And a handful of sunflowers. :)

Tiny pumpkins are my weakness!

He liked that pumpkin best haha, isn't he cute?!

Did anyone else go to a pumpkin patch? How many did you leave with and what are you going to use them for?!

Cableknit & Herringbone

Sharing my favorite outfit from our weekend in Chicago today!  It was definitely cooler than last year and of course, I was all over it!

What's better than a cableknit sweater? A cableknit sweater dress, that's what.  Of course I had to take my favorite herringbone vest, along with my new favorite fall lipstick!  How perfect is the berry color?!

Summer Blues

First, let me say, I am not wishing for summer weather to come back.  Yet.  But scrolling through Tumblr the other day I came across this beauty of a romper and had thoughts of summer dancing in my head.  Maybe I'll search to the ends of the earth for it and have it in my closet, ready to ring in summer next year! :)

Have any of y'all had end-of-summer blues or are you already fully invested in the fall weather?!

Friday Favorites {Desert Booties}

This season I'm loving the wedge/desert/lace up/whatever-you-call-it bootie!  I've been looking everywhere for the perfect pair, and had to have a pair to take to Chicago.  They're perfect for fall, especially the beginning when the weather it still on the warmer side!  Plus, the wedge makes them more comfortable to wear!  If you look around for them, there are so many variations of this style, I was actually surprised!  So I decided to put together a few of my favorites, maybe you'll see one you love!

Desert booties

I found my pair at Burlington Coat Factory for $25! They're Madden Girl and I love them!  For those of you looking for a more affordable pair, also check J.C. Penny and Dillard's, they had a couple different pairs I looked at since I was on a time crunch looking for Chicago!

Do you already have a pair or is this style something you've been looking to add to your closet?!

Charles Ifergan

In a previous post, I mentioned that I got my hair done in Chicago this last weekend, and here's the first look!  As soon as we hit the ground in Chicago, we were off, rushing to Charles Ifergan, thankfully it wasn't that far from the hotel.  We almost missed it though walking the street looking for it because it's on the 4th floor of a building but you're basically walking into a store to get to the elevator, little confusing, but we made it!

Can't say enough about the salon, it's definitely one of those high-end ones you dream of going to, and my stylist, Rachel, ugh, amazing.  I love that I didn't have to show a picture or tell her what I wanted (because I don't really know) but she told me!  I just showed her my "short limit" but thankfully she said she loved long on me!  Just not as long as it was haha (it was seriously ridiculous and gross as I'm sure you could tell in other posts).

Now I'll never be able to trust a local stylist, I've been ruined haha.  I so wish I could go to Chicago every time I need a cut (and color).  Note: she styled it with a center part so I could part on either side and the cut would look fab, I told her my hair does it's own thing and parts wherever it wants!  And just to give you an idea, I'll show you a before from a couple weeks ago!

Walking down Michigan Ave after we left the salon, we found this beautiful little courtyard of a church, unfortunately both our phones died after these photos and didn't go back.  Next time we're in Chicago, we will be visiting this place, for sure! So quiet and peaceful!

So what do y'all think? Love it?!
